(WXYZ) — Did the absentee ballot you thought you mailed out pop back into your mailbox?
Here's a possible explanation as to why.
According to the Michigan Department of State, the United State Postal Service has been returning absentee ballots to voters "likely to due to a technology error."
(1/2) We have received reports that occasionally absentee ballots have been returned to the voter by @USPS. We have communicated with USPS and clerks and this is likely due to a technology error.— Michigan Department of State (@MichSoS) February 15, 2020
"USPS will do visual scans of absentee envelopes to ensure they are delivered correctly, however, if your ballot comes back to you, either place it back in the mail if time permits, or take it to your clerk’s office," the Michigan Department of State wrote in a tweet.
