The public is invited to pay their respects today to a man known as the Champion of Detroit.

Today is the public viewing for Mike Ilitch at the Fox Theatre. The doors will open to the public at noon and stay open until 8 p.m.

You're invited to visit to pay your respects, and say your last goodbyes to an iconic man who provided jobs, hope and inspiration to thousands.

Known as a self-made man, Ilitch co-founded Little Caesars pizza, the owner of the Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers.

He spent his career giving back, and created the Ilitch Charities to spread his wealth across Motown.

Today's viewing will be inside the grand lobby of the historic theatre that Mike and his wife Marian fully restored and established as the world headquarters for Little Caesars in 1989.

If you want to go to the Fox Theatre, but are worried about parking, don't let that stop you. There will be free public parking at the Fox garage and lots 1 and 2 on Woodward.
