Alex Odden is charged with entering the Canal St. home of a Milford police officer Friday.

That officer was on the couch with his wife at the time. When the wife screamed, the officer jumped up and chased Odden out the back.

Announcing himself as a cop, the homeowner tackled Odden until fellow cops arrived.

“I am extremely proud of the officer, it could have been a lot worse,” says Chief Tom Lindberg. “He did react to protect his family. He had two young kids in the house and his wife.”

Odden has been released on bond. The 7 Investigators tracking him down inside a nearby apartment building.

When he answered the door, he told us, he was drunk that night and thought he was walking into a friend’s house.

“Did you expect it to be a cop?” we asked. “No,” he replied.

“I am terribly sorry. I am never drinking again. I did what I did, take full responsibility. I hope he and his family can forgive me.”

Odden does have a criminal record. Nothing violent, but a past filled with alcohol and trouble.
