The victim is identified as Burl E. Steele, 47, of Maumee, Ohio.

On Monday, July 22, the boater's body was found, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

A search was suspended Sunday afternoon for Steele, but resumed Monday when his body was recovered.

According to a release, a boater in the area reported finding the body. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to that area, which was approximately 500 yards north of where Steele fell into the water.

A preliminary investigation found that Steele was a boat passenger. The boat he was in struck the wake of another watercraft, causing him to fall out of the boat. The victim was not wearing a flotation device and never resurfaced.
