(WXYZ) — A Missouri man has been charged with open murder after another man was found stabbed to death in front of a Belle Tire in Troy earlier this week.
Jerome Perry-Bey, 41, of St. Louis, Missouri, was charged for the incident.
On Feb. 15, officers responded to Belle Tire on Rochester Rd. where they found 38-year-old Carlos Contreras of Flint dead. He had a single stab wound to his chest and an open folding knife near his body.
Police investigators traveled to Flint to speak with the victim's family, and officers identified Perry-Bey as a suspect.
Perry-Bey was apparently staying in Flint for the past several weeks and had a connection to the victim. The ssuspect also had a pending felony charge in St. Louis and may have fled to Flint to avoid arrest.
According to police, Perry-Bey and Contreras were traveling from Pontiac to Detroit and passing through Troy, when they got into an argument and pulled into the parking lot of Belle Tire where a struggle ensued outside of the vehicle. During the struggle, Perry-Bey allegedly stabbed Contreras and then fled the scene.
