FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Wayne County canvasser Monica Palmer held a press conference Thursday after a News Hampshire woman was accused of texting threats to the canvasser.
The conference was held at 2 p.m. at the law office of Michael Allan Schwartz in Farmington Hills.
Katelyn Jones, 23, is accused of sending threatening texts to Monica Palmer after she voted against certifying the election results for Wayne County on Nov. 17.
According to a criminal complaint, Palmer received multiple threatening text messages on Nov. 18 from an unknown person, calling her a "terrorist."
The messages were followed by two graphic photographs of a mutilated deceased woman; immediately, another photo was sent of Palmer's daughter, who is a minor.
The texts that followed stated, "I'd just like you to imagine that's little [name] your beautiful daughter."
Law enforcement databases traced the number to a TextMe account, created by way of a specific IP address, traced to a residence in New Hampshire.
Jones faces up to 20 years behind bars if convicted. She remains in custody.
Two state canvassers were also threatened, and 7 Action News has been told criminal investigations are ongoing.
