While metro Detroit is likely to see some snow on Friday, the state's Upper Peninsula is expected to get its first major snowstorm of the season beginning Thursday night and Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, much of the UP could see six or more inches of snow by Friday night.
On top of that, the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula could see more than a foot of snow!
According to the NWS, the potential snowfall will start on Thursday night and continue through Friday. There are Winter Storm Warnings and the heavy snow is expected to hit the northern areas first.
