In the final day of Detroit’s Most Wanted 7 on 7, we’re digging deeper into the new US Marshals task force launching in Washtenaw County.

This US Marshals fugitive team in Washtenaw County is already capturing fugitives off our streets since their launch at the beginning of the month.

“There are bad people everywhere, you can tap any community and make the determination that there are bad people who need to be extracted from the community,” US Marshal Robert Grubbs of the Eastern District of Michigan said. “Washtenaw County is no different, it just gives us an excellent opportunity to work with the sheriff's department along with other agencies in the area.”

Their target is Demond Harris.

“He likes to beat women, he’s a coward and we got a place for him,” Deputy US Marshal Robert Watson said.  He’s in charge of this new fugitive team.

“No longer are people going to be able to go out and be on the run for days, months, years whatever it is, we’re gonna get them,” he said.

Its guys like Harris the Marshals are always ready for, training their new fugitive team comprised of members from all local Washtenaw County agencies to be ready to face the worst.

“There’s really not enough resources for all the challenges we have,” Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton said.  “They bring tremendous resources, technological resources, training, we bring the local knowledge.”

Harris is wanted in Ann Arbor for strangulation, domestic violence, and malicious destruction of property in addition to probation violations.

“When they come under our umbrella, we train together so that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing,” Grubbs said.

Their mission is getting violent fugitives off our streets - starting with Demond Harris.

“You might as well save yourself the trouble and turn yourself in now, make your life a little bit easier because we’re coming for ya,” Watson said.

Demond Harris is 6’2” 235 pounds and considered armed and dangerous.
