Convicted child molester Robert Hinton was captured July 29 in Macomb county after five years on the run.

A tip from a channel 7 viewer led U.S. Marshals to Eastpointe where he was hiding out.

Robert Hinton had not been seen since he was released from prison after serving time for molestation. “He’s convicted out of the State of Indiana for 10 counts of child molestation with two young girls,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Aaron Garcia said.

Back home after being sentenced to 12 years in an Indiana prison, he served five then took off when he was released without registering as a sex offender.

And it’s not just charges in Indiana that he and those helping him will be facing.

Because he is not registered as a sex offender in Michigan, "we would charge him federally with the 'Adam Walsh Act' Garcia said."
