Suspects sought in double shooting in Detroit

Posted

Tonight police are looking for the person who shot two young girls while they played with Christmas presents inside a home in Detroit.

Detectives have just released surveillance video and 911 calls, hoping to catch the killer.

Police say this guy is armed, dangerous and was out to kill that December night.

A 7-year old girl is now dead, while her 8-year old friend is recovering. Now detectives are turning to you for help.

Little Chanell, just 7-years old and Ellen, just 8, were best friends. Police say the two were playing with Christmas presents on Sunday December 27th at Chenell's house when, out of nowhere, bullets came flying - hitting both little girls.

Loved ones quickly called 911.

Chanell, a little cheerleader full of personality, died. Her mother says she was buried on her 8th birthday.

Police say the surveillance video shows the triggerman opening fire at the home that night on the 16000 block of Steel Street in Detroit.

As Chanell's family continues to grieve, and little Ellen recovers, detectives are working feverishly to find the gunman and put him behind bars.

Both families asking for you help. If you have any information on the gunman call, Detroit Police's Homicide Tip Line at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800 SPEAK UP.

You may remain anonymous. Detectives say not tip is too small.
