DETROIT (WXYZ) — A day before her birthday, Markeila Parker received the gift she had been waiting for. The man accused of killing her 19-year-old son was finally under arrest.

The 22-year-old Detroit man remains locked up in Marion County, West Virginia on unrelated charges.

A spokesperson for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said they have received a warrant request from Detroit police in the teen's murder. They are now reviewing the case.

Marion County Sheriff's deputies said they arrested the 22-year-old Detroit man late last week after executing a search at a house where they suspected drugs were being sold.

In a criminal complaint, deputies said the "defendant was located sitting on the couch in the living room. In front of him on a coffee table, deputies located digitial scales with white powder on it, a plastic card with white powder on it and a cigar pouch of white powder weighing approximately 9 grams, as well as, a roll of aluminum foil with strips torn off of it."

Deputies said a field test on the white powder was positive for heroin.

An open bag of powdered sugar, which deputies said is commonly used by drug dealers to cut heroin, was found near the suspect.

The 22-year-old is now facing charges in West Virginia including possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy. Two other men were also arrested in that drug case.

In Detroit, it's believed the suspect killed Tymarian Tiller because the teen and his brother refused to buy marijuana from him. That was two months before the murder and Tymarian's older brother, Chase Parker, said the suspect and about seven of his friends jumped them for refusing to buy his weed.

On Dec. 13, Tymarian was with two friends when Detroit police said he was confronted by the suspect in a party store on Chene near Lafayette.

Police said the shooter chased Tymarian and his friends and then shot and killed the 19-year-old.

Tymarian's mother said news of the man's arrest was like a present from God. She and other family members eager to see the suspect face a judge for Tymarian's murder.

"I just can't wait until I can face him and ask him why," Tymarian's mother said.
