DETROIT (WXYZ) — A motorcyclist is dead after being hit by a driver on Detroit's east side, a spokesperson for the Detroit Police Department tells us.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. on Saturday (August 22), at the intersection of E. 8 Mile Road and Hamburg Street.

Investigators say the driver of a vehicle drove through a red light, crashing into the motorcyclist traveling on 8 Mile.

The motorcyclist, who DPD says was in their 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle and it's other passenger — a girl in her teens — were transported to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.
