You can be a kid again in downtown Detroit with a new installation - musical swings!
"I think it's wonderful. I was surprised they got on so quick. They're having a blast and I don't think they're going to get off any time soon," says Jason Ireland, who brought his daughter and niece to play.
Campus Martius Park's Cadillac Square has ten new swings that play or compose music when you activate them. The swings emit notes from four different instruments - guitar, piano, vibraphone or harp. The more synchronized you are and the higher you swing, the louder the music gets.
"If you swing in synchronicity with other people you create melodies. The goal is to collaborate in order to make specific sounds," says Sarah MacKenzie of Daily tous les jours.
These swings are for all ages to enjoy. "I am 28 years old but it's so fun especially when you get in sync with everybody. It's so dope and who doesn't want to be a kid again," says Tony Weir, who works downtown.
The musical swings will be downtown until May 8.
