It’s a competition that helps boost women-owned businesses across North America.

EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women, run by Ernst and Young, is in its ninth year, helping to bridge the gender gap in terms of business growth.

And one local woman snagged a coveted spot in the program's class of 2016.

Neetu Seth founded NITS Solutions in 2009. The technology and marketing company is based in Novi, Michigan.

Seth was one of only 14 women inducted into the program.

"EY is a very recognized program ...it's an annual competition for entrepreneurs," said Seth. "It opened the doors for me in education, networking and visibility."

Mentors within the program advise the women on how to scale up their businesses, helping them push through some of the obstacles they face.

For Seth, being in a STEM-related field presents its own challenges.

"The real challenge is to convince somebody or even go after the clients, that yes you can solve their business problems because ... when they think of technology, they think it's a male dominated industry," said Seth.

Seth said the goal now is to follow the guidance from the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women program and grow her company into a $200 million empire.
