Earthquake recorded off the coast of Mexico

According to a report from the U.S. Geological Survey, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the Pacific Coast of Mexico Thursday morning.

 

 

The earthquake was recorded about 130 miles away from the coastal city of Tomatlan, Mexico, a town of about 35,000 people. The epicenter of the earthquake was also recorded just 165 miles southwest of the resort town of Puerto Vallarta.

According to the National Weather Service’s Tsunami Warning Center, the quake was not expected to cause a tsunami.

Early reports did not indicate damage or casualties caused by the quake.
