A 50th anniversary is usually referred to as a golden anniversary — but the 50th Super Bowl is about to get "Yellow."

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Coldplay will headline the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.

The selection of Coldplay, who has produced hits like "Clocks," "Viva la Vida," and "A Sky Full of Stars," comes as a surprise to most. Previous rumors tapped either Taylor Swift or Maroon 5 to headline the show.

The Super Bowl performance could be a last hurrah for the band. Coldplay is slated to release what is rumored to be its final album,"A Head Full of Dreams" on Friday.

Reports also indicate that 2014 Halftime Show headliner Bruno Mars will also be involved in the upcoming show, as well as "friends of the band" that will be announced at a later date.

Recent Super Bowl halftime acts include Katy Perry (2015), Beyonce (2013), Madonna (2012) and the Black Eyed Peas (2011).

Super Bowl 50 will take place on Feb. 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
