SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — An employee who tested positive for COVID-19 works at Travelers Towers office complex in Southfield, according to an internal email to associates.

"I wanted to inform you that we received late yesterday a written notice from our landlord, Newmark Knight Frank, that an employee who works in Travelers Tower I has tested positive for COVID-19."

The email said the employee was last seen in Travelers Tower I on March 4 and exhibited symptoms consistent with the virus on March 8.

The management company, NewMark Knight Frank said they've informed the Wayne County Health Department.

According to the email:

All Travelers Tower buildings, including Travelers Tower II, are safe for operations and the buildings will remain open for business. WCHD does not believe that any other employees or tenants in the building are at risk for contracting the COVID-19 virus. There are no other employees under quarantine based on this event. The landlord has taken all cleaning measures recommended by WCHD.

It's unclear which company employs the victim.

"We recognize and appreciate that this information is unsettling and we are committed to ensuring our workforce is safe within our building and office space," the email reads. "As of now, pursuant to direction from WCHD, it is our understanding that our building and office are safe for operations. In turn, we remain open for normal operations. At the same time, please be aware that we are actively working on contingency plans to allow for remote, work-from-home (WFH) options, including ongoing testing efforts this week."
