A Chihuahua born with no front legs has got some new wheels.
Roo, one of 40 small-breed dogs rescued from a hoarder on Sept. 4, was taken in by Pima Animal Care Center in Arizona. Thanks to community donations, the organization raised $10,000 and bought a wheelchair for the dog. Once she is comfortable using the cart, she will need hip surgery.
The dog will stay in foster care until she is able to use the cart with ease and recovered from surgery.
“It’s so rewarding to see her flourish and open up and have the opportunity to be a dog,” said Foster Carrillo, who gives Roo two hours of cart time every day.
Roo is not yet up for adoption but the organization has hundreds of other pets which are.
