Instagram announced on its company blog Tuesday that the social media service will now support videos up to 60 seconds long.
Instagram launched as a photo editing and sharing service in in 2010, but did not support video until 2013. With video sharing services like Vine (which only supports six-second videos) entering Instagram's space, the social media service began supporting videos between three and 15 seconds long.
Tuesday's announcement is the first time Instagram has extended the length of its videos.
The social photo service says longer videos will begin rolling out today, and that the feature will be available to all users “in the coming months.”
