Legal marijuana sales in Michigan top $10 million in just 6 weeks

Legal marijuana is off to a million-dollar start in Michigan, according to the latest figures for pot sales in the state.

During the state's first six weeks of recreational marijuana legalization, Michigan raked in more than $10 million in sales, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The $10,090,446 in sales translate to $1,675,014 in revenue from a 10% excise tax and 6% sales tax for the state of Michigam, Freep says.

Medical marijuana has been legal in the state since 2008, but recreational weed didn't become legal until December 1, 2019.
