The United States is remembering the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks across the country on Monday.
In New York, the commemoration ceremony gets underway at 8:46 a.m. EDT with a moment of silence. It's the moment the first plane hit the World Trade Center.
President Donald Trump will preside over his first 9/11 commemoration in office and will be joined by First Lady Melania Trump.
They will observe the moment of silence at The White House and will also pay their respects at a Pentagon ceremony led by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Cheifs of Staff.
