Upon first glance, it appears the Phoenix Suns Gorilla momentarily lost its mind during the fourth quarter of the team's game against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.
In the first minute of the final quarter, the Gorilla was seen sliding on the court during the middle of a play, much to the surprise of a Wizards player nearby

Fortunately, a viewer took a closer look and discovered the Gorilla's act wasn't an act of insanity, but rather an act of bravery, as he dove to grab a drum stick that made its way on the court and could have injured an unsuspecting player.

The Gorilla's heroics didn't quite translate into a Suns victory, as they fell to the Wizards 131-127. But the Gorilla further cemented his legacy as one of the great mascots in professional sports.
