9 shootings reported in Detroit within 8-hour span

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating nine shootings that happened across the city within an eight-hour time span Friday.

Here's preliminary information from the Detroit Police Department:

Non-Fatal Shooting on 15000 block of Ward

On Nov. 20 at 10:45 p.m. in the 15000 block of Ward Street, the 27-year old male victim was in front of the location when two suspects approached him and allegedly questioned him resulting in a physical altercation. During the altercation, one of the suspect fired a shot at the victim and stuck him. The victim ran until he was able to seek help. The victim was transported to a local hospital by medics and listed in temporary serious condition. Unknown suspects at this time. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated. Non-Fatal Shooting on 2200 block of Clements

On Nov. 20 at 10:15 p.m. in the 2200 block of Clements, a 50-year old male had just pulled up to the location and exited his vehicle when two unknown male suspects approached him on foot. The victim ran from the suspects who then fired multiple shots at him and struck him. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in temporary serious condition. Officer-Involved Shooting/Robbery Suspect on 13500 block of W. Chicago (1 Arrest)

On Nov. 20 at 9:50 p.m. in the 13500 block of Chicago, officers were patrolling the area when they observed a male suspect (34 years old) robbing a 45-year-old male at gunpoint outside the location. As the officers confronted the suspect, the suspect pointed his gun in the direction of the officers. One of the officers fired his department weapon and struck the suspect. The suspect was arrested and transported to a local hospital for treatment and listed in temporary serious condition. The suspect’s weapon was also recovered along with items he had taken from the victim. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated. An internal investigation has also been launched by members of the Detroit Police Department’s Professional Standard Division. Fatal Accident on Schaefer and Joy Road

On Nov. 20 at 9:40 p.m. the victim (25, female) was crossing the street on Schaefer when she was struck by a driver of an unknown vehicle that was traveling south on Schaefer with no headlights. The suspect continued driving and failed to stop. Medics responded and the victim was transported to the hospital where she, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries. Fatal Shooting on 15000 block of Edmore

On Nov. 20 at 9:40 p.m. in the 15800 block of Edmore, the 16-year old was inside the location when he was shot. He was privately conveyed to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Unknown suspect at this time. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still unclear and being investigated. On Nov. 20 at 8:30 p.m., the 16-year old male victim was in the area when multiple shots were fired and he was struck. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital by medics where he was listed in critical condition. Unknown suspects at this time. Non-Fatal Shooting/Robbery Attempt on 19400 block James Couzens

On Nov. 20 at 7:20 p.m. in the 19000 block of James Couzens, a 43-year old male victim was going inside the local business, when an unknown suspect wearing a mask approached him and demanded his items at gun point. A struggle ensued and the victim was able to get away. As the victim attempted to flee, the suspect fired shots at the victim and striking him. The suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and listed in temporary serious condition. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated. Non-Fatal Shooting on 11700 block of Chalmers

On Nov. 20 at 6:45 p.m. in the 11700 block of Chalmers, two suspects pulled up to the local gas station and went inside. While inside the suspects got into a verbal altercation with the victim (20, male) and another person that spilled outside into the lot. Once outside, one of the suspects physically assaulted the victim while the other suspect produced a gun and shot the victim. After the shooting, all involved fled. The victim was privately conveyed to the hospital and listed in stable condition. Unknown suspects at this time. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated. Non-Fatal Shooting on 14100 block of Houston Whittier (1 Arrest)

On Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. in the 14100 block of Houston Whittier, a 14-year old male was in the area when shots were fired by two suspects and he was struck. One of the suspects were located in the area of Mayfield and Hayes and arrested. The circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.
