You may not be able to pinpoint the time you’re hooked on a show.
But Netflix can.
The streaming site says they analyzed their global streaming data for the first seasons of today’s most popular shows.They looked at Netflix original series and shows from other networks.
The company says they can see when a fandom emerges. In every popular series, there is one episode that seems to hook a viewer. Of the viewers who tuned into that hooked episode, 70 percent went on to watch the entire season—according to Netflix.
The company also found through researching 20 shows across 16 markets—that no one was ever hooked during the pilot episode.
Another interesting tidbit: Netflix found the Dutch tend to fall in love with series the fastest—about one episode ahead of most countries.
