New movie theatre showing free movies Tuesday

A brand-new movie theatre is coming to Taylor and it is celebrating its grand opening with free movies for visitors.

TV20 Detroit host Jessica Lundy will be on hand at the Cinemark grand opening event. She'll hand out the 900 free movie tickets that can be used Tuesday.

The movie ticket giveaway begins at 2 p.m. at the Cinemark-Southland Center, located at 23000 Eureka Road. Tickets will be handed out until 3:45, or until all 900 are claimed. The tickets are also good for free popcorn and free fountain drinks.

The 12-screen theatre features luxury recliners, a cafe, auditorium and a NextGen cinema design concept.

There are 11 movies showing at different times Tuesday afternoon that will be free for the public. The shows and show times are listed below:

  • Gods of Egypt 3D (PG13) - 2:40 p.m.
  • Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (PG) - 2:50 p.m.
  • Ride Along 2 (R) - 3:05 p.m.
  • Daddy's Home (PG13) - 3:15 p.m.
  • Kung Fu Panda 3 3D (PG) - 3:30 p.m.
  • Lond Has Fallen (R) - 3:45 p.m. (XD)
  • Eddie the Eagle (PG13) - 3:55 p.m.
  • How To Be Single (R) - 4 p.m.
  • The Divergent Series: Allegiant (PG13) - 4:05 p.m.
  • Dirty Grandpa (R) - 4:15 p.m.
  • Kung Fu Panda 3 (PG) - 4:20 p.m.
