Foodies will be excited to learn a food truck park is opening in metro Detroit.
A food truck park will be opening this summer in Ferndale on the corner of Nine Mile and Martin Road.
It's called "Detroit Fleat." The spelling is a play on words because it is a fleet of trucks that you can eat at.
Katie Picard and the other co-owners are turning a former Chinese restaurant and parking lot into a place where you can order food from a variety of trucks and sit inside with a beer or cocktail. It's the perfect destination for choosey eaters.
"It gives people more options, so they can come to a place and they're with a family of four and one person is picky, they want to eat this or they don't want that," Picard said.
The owners originally started their business three years ago with a food truck called "Delectabowl." It will be one of the regulars, along with MAC Shack and Pita Post.
"A few stationary trucks that will stay for a season or something like that but then we are always going to have guest trucks."
Even though food trucks are supposed to be mobile, Detroit Fleat owners say they needed to pick a spot where customers can find them.
She added, "It's really good food. It's a small business and it's also quick."
They are hoping to open the food truck place by June.
