New off-leash dog park to open today in Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A new dog park in Sterling Heights will open Tuesday.

The city says the dog park located at Delia Park will open July 7, and pet parents can enjoy the off-leash facility that features picnic tables, fencing, water fountain, dog bag dispensers, and more.

The large dog area is 1.25 acres, and the small dog area is .75 acre.

For the safety of young children, anyone under the age of 6 is not allowed in the dog park at any time. Children ages 6-17 are allowed in the park if accompanied by an adult pass holder.

Anyone who wants to use the dog park must submit an application, along with photo ID, proof/copy of dogs current vaccinations, proof/copy of current dog license, initialed rules and regulations form, and payment, according to the city.
