New technology is heading to Detroit Metro Airport to help passengers get through security lines faster.
A private company is bringing biometric screeners to DTW, so you can use a fingerprint or eye scan to get through security, instead of waiting in line for a TSA agent to verify your ticket and I.D.
The technology is called CLEAR. This is not a mandatory screening process at the airport, but another option for travelers.
After your identity is verified with a fingerprint or blink of the eye, you must still go through the bag screening and body scanner lines.
Like TSA pre-check or global entry, you enroll in the program before you come to the airport.
You have to be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
It will cost you a membership fee, $180 a year and $50 for family members, but the program promises to get you through airport security in less than five minutes.Mo
