New video of an assault in the Genesee County Jail has been given to 7 Action News. It happened in 2010, and the beating happened at the hands of five jail guards, but it could still be more than two years before William Jennings sees any money.
A jury in federal court in Detroit awarded Jennings $36.6 million after he was beaten and tied up inside the jail. It happened after he was arrested and booked for drunken driving. He registered a .12 blood-alcohol level.
After going through the process, everything escalated and it's all on tape.
During the scuffle, Jennings was slammed, tazed, then tied down. A spit hood was put over his head, and he was tied down for more than 2 1/2 hours.
