The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association released its winter outlook for the United States on Thursday, predicting what winter could look like across the country.
According to the NOAA, it's going to be a La Niña season, and 7 First Alert Meteorologist Kevin Jeanes said that will alter the jet stream, and we'll likely see multiple storm systems move in from the northwest to the southeast from Canada.
That will likely bring us above-average snowfall in Michigan. We average about 42 inches of snow each winter in metro Detroit.
As for temperatures, the NOAA said there's an equal chance for above-average and below-average temperatures. Temps are expected to be below-average in the northwest and above-average in the south.
