The Road Commission for Oakland County is looking to hire part-time snowplow and salt truck drivers for this year's winter.
The agency plans to hire 25 temporary drivers to augment its full-time staff.
“These part-time workers are a great way to ensure we provide the service that Oakland County residents deserve,” explained RCOC Chairman Eric Wilson. “With the part-time workers, we expect to have approximately 170 snowplow drivers available this winter.”
Each year RCOC purchases 12 new snowplow/dump trucks, officials say.
Fun fact: On average, the Commission uses 64,000 tons of salt per winter.
