Oakland County reports rise in flu cases

Posted

The Oakland County Health Division is urging residents to get their flu vaccination after a recent rise in cases.

Health officials note the elderly and infants are more susceptible to contracting the flu. Symptoms include fever or chills, cough, sore throat, fatigue and aches.

“While we are currently seeing an increase in flu activity, it is not uncommon for flu cases to peak at this time of year,” said George Miller, director of Oakland County’s Department of Health and Human Services, in a press release. “This season’s vaccine is well matched to circulating viruses and it is not too late in the season to get protected by a flu shot.”

Flu shots are available at Health Division offices in Pontiac and Southfield.
