NORTHVILLE TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) — Northville Board of Trustees approved Thursday a plan to implement hiking and biking trails on the eastern end of the Seven Mile Property, where the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital once was. The hospital was purchased in 2009.
The plan was first presented to officials by the Seven Mile Planning Committee on March 21.
According to a release, 50 acres of the eastern end of the property were acquired through a grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust fund in 2009. A master plan of the property was developed in 2012. The plan called for park trails to be build on a portion of the property.
The recent approval means the township will now move forward to create the hiking and biking trails.
