Online competition open to local artists

Posted

The hunt is on for the greatest artists in our area--and if you enter, your work could score you some big bucks.

The MI Great Artist competition is an online art competition for visual artists around southeastern Michigan.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson started the competition to encourage creativity in our communities, according to the MI Great Artists website.

The competition is open to artists 18 years and older. People who enter can submit up to five original works.

The submissions will then be voted on by the public.  A jury of artists will pick five finalists from the top twenty and the winner will be determined by a combination of jury score and public vote.

The artists have the chance to win $3,000 in cash prizes, and even exhibition space at venues in southeast Michigan.

Entries will be accepted until October 9 with public voting later that month.
