Online job scam targeting Central Michigan University community

If you have students who go to Central Michigan University, it's time to warn them about a new job scam circulating.

Campus police say scammers are targeting their victims by sending unsolicited job offers through e-mail or employment sites.

Investigators say the scammers send their victims a check for higher than the agreed upon wage. Then they tell the victims to send the balance of that check to another person.

After several days, the check from the bogus employer bounces.

So what do you need to look for?

Police say the fake accounts have an email address of "@centralmich.org."

CMU says all official school accounts contain '"@cmich.edu"
