More than 20,000 gifts will soon be loaded on planes and shipped to children in foster care around the state.
Trucks filled with wrapped gifts made its way to the Oakland County International Airport.
The two-day effort is the 46th annual Operation Good Cheer.
Dean Greenblatt is a board member of the Child & Family Services of Michigan.
"It's so overwhelming, the numbers of people that are involved."
Every year, generous people sponsor a child in the foster care system in Michigan and they buy them Christmas gifts.
He said, "These are frequently the only things they've ever owned of their own.
Each child receives about $150 worth of gifts, but often donors exceed that.
In total, more than 6,400 foster children will receive the presents.
But for some kids, they want more than just toys.
"Sometimes the list they have are heartbreaking. They say 'we just want a blanket or a pair of socks or a warm coat.'"
About 20,000 gifts in total are being sorted out by destination.
It will be distributed tomorrow morning throughout the state of Michigan to 26 different airports.
Some say millions of dollars are put into this effort each year when you factor in the donations, hundreds of volunteers and the 300 pilots donating their time and airplanes.
This is a two-day effort.
