A lot of families are hitting the road for the Fourth of July weekend but you can have a staycation in metro Detroit.
At Oakland County parks you can walk, kayak, fish, plan a picnic or go to the beach. The parks offer plenty of outdoor activities that people travel hours to enjoy.
"It's like going up north but it's right here in your own backyard. We're staying home and going to take advantage of things in the area. We've been camping up north and didn't want to fight the traffic," says Julie Beyer, who visits the parks a couple times a week.
