Some kids in the Plymouth-Canton School District say their buses are so overcrowded, it is dangerous.
“I had to sit on the floor,” said Liam Hurley, an 8th grader in the district. “The bus was really crowded.”
When his mom heard about this she decided he wouldn’t be riding the bus anymore.
Beth Hurley started driving her sons and the children of other concerned parents to school. It is an inconvenience.
“I miss just being able to send them on the bus, but it is just not safe,” said Beth.
She and other parents say they have voiced concerns to the school, but have not seen a solution.
7 Action News reached out to school leaders. They say enrollment is higher than expected, and they will be making adjustments.
"I don’t want any kids standing. I don’t want any kids in the aisle. I don’t want any kids on the floor,” said Brad Tate, who is in charge of transportation for the district.
7 Action News will be following up with what happens next to make sure the problem is addressed.
