The owner of the Hip Hop shop in Detroit is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 26-year-old father.

41-year-old Keith B. Hudson had claimed that Marcel Dubose tried to rob him and that he acted in self-defense when he opened fire on Dubose on October 10th.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy didn't buy that claim.

Neither did Dubose's family.

"They're trying to tell me something about a robbery, but that's not my son," Dubose's father Richard Poole told 7 Action News last week. "That's not what we do."

In addition to first-degree murder charges, Hudson faces manslaughter and felony firearm charges.

Hudson faces a preliminary hearing on October 31st.
