WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Warren Police Department has released photos of a person of interest wanted in connection to the murder of a woman who was shot early Monday morning.
According to police, 44-year-old Jennifer Wentz was sitting in the Hoover Eleven shopping center around 2 a.m. waiting to pick up her daughter when she was shot from behind.
Police say that her daughter said her mother texted her that she arrived at the Rue 21 clothing store where she worked, to pick her up. When she went outside, she discovered her mother's car several hundred yards across the parking lot, crashed near a cart corral, dead from a single gunshot wound.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral expenses.
Investigators say the incident appears to be a attempted carjacking robbery.
“I have every confidence that my investigators will, as they have consistently done in the past, bring this perpetrator to justice," Police Commisioner Bill Dwyer said.
