DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on the city's west side Thursday morning.
Officers say around 10:10 a.m. a man was sitting in his vehicle on the 18000 block of Snowden when two men approached his vehicle and demanded money.
At gunpoint the suspects told the man to gointo the house and get money. While inside the man grabbed a gun, came outsiee and at both suspects, fatally hitting one of them.
Police have not determined if the other suspect was hit, but he jumped into the victim's vehicle and sped off.
The deceased carjacker is male and the suspect who took off is described as a heavy-set black male, police say. The vehicle is described as a light-colored Honda.
The investigation is ongoing. Police say they do have information that this may not be random and that the suspects and victim may have known each other.
However, that has yet to be confirmed by investigators.
