CENTER LINE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Center Line police took into custody a man who had barricaded himself inside his apartment, causing the complex to be evacuated Sunday.

Officers got a call around 10 a.m., for an individual requesting help inside the Deauville Apartments, 8260 E. 10 Mile Rd. The individual then began threatening to injure himself.

When officers arrived on the scene, the man inside of the apartment stated that he had Butane and bombs inside his home. SWAT arrived on the scene due to the threats of weapons. The fire department and Special Response Team were also on scene.

According to Officer Paul Myszenski of the Center Line Police Department, negotiators were eventually able to reach a peaceful resolution with the man.

"They were able to have a non violent resolve and get him the help he needed," Myszenski said.

The man was barricaded inside his home for over three hours. There was no gun involved in the incident. According to officers on the scene, when they entered the residence they found the man with a box cutter.

No further details have been released. This is an ongoing investigation.
