Police hold mock disaster training session today in Detroit

Detroit police say they will be holding a disaster training session today near Cobo Center.

According to a news release from the Detroit Police Department, Jefferson Avenue will be closed between Griswold and Washington from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the exercise. 

The Detroit Police Department, Detroit Fire Department and EMS Unit, Detroit Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Michigan State Police and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office are expected to be involved in the session today.

DPD states: "Detroit first responders, including our federal, state and local partners continuously train to improve and enhance our strategic and tactical capabilities in response to a number of emergencies or terrorist incident that will hopefully never occur."
