WESTLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) — Westland Police were on the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident Monday evening.
The accident occurred at Merriman and Palmer roads. Police say a 20-year-old was crossing the street, but not at a crosswalk. That 20-year-old has been identified as Richard Sajewski Jr. Sajewski was hit by an oncoming car and was then taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle did stop. The roads are currently closed as police continue the investigation.
Police add that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.
