Police investigating murder-suicide in Commerce Township

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide at a home in Commerce Township. Sources tell 7 Action News the murder-suicide was with a husband and wife.

We're told police were called to the home in the 3000 block of Timberlake Dr., which is near the intersection of Commerce and Oakley Park, around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

According to deputies, a man drove to the substation and said his friend was suicidal, saying he got an email from the friend saying so

Deputies arrived at the house but were unable to get in contact with the homeowner. They got inside the garage and saw a vehicle running with no one inside, and then entered the home.

When they arrived to the master bedroom, deputies found a 49-year-old woman on the floor with a gunshot wound to her head and then a man lying on the floor of the bathroom.

Deputies say that there were marital issues, and they believe that the 55-year-old man shot his wife and then committed suicide by taking pills.
