Police investigating shooting among relatives at Monroe County home

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 34-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting at a home in Frenchtown Township.

Police say that on Monday, shots were fired inside of a residence in the 8400 block of Killy Court. Police say that both victims, a 40-year-old woman and 45-year-old man, lived in the home with the suspect and are related.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the victim's bedroom after the suspect and male victim had an argument. A handgun was displayed during the confrontation and a struggle ensued between both men, police say. During the struggle, the gun fired, grazing the male victim on the left side of his head. The bullet then struck the female victim's torso while lying in bed next to the male victim, police say.

The suspect was located in a parking lot on N. Monroe Street and taken to the Monroe County Jail, where he was lodged on attempted murder, felon in possession of a handgun and felony firearm charges.

The male victim was treated at the hospital and released. The female victim went under emergency surgery and is serious condition.
