Police in Eastpointe say they are waiting for autopsy results from the Macomb County Medical Examiner’s Office before deciding how to move forward with a death investigation.

Police tell us they were called to a home in the 23700 block of Shakespeare, near Stephens and Gratiot, around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Inside the home, they said a mother of two was found dead.

Police say there were no signs of obvious trauma on the woman's body, but they are calling this a suspicious death until they have that final autopsy report.

We’re told the woman in her 20s was living in the home with her boyfriend and their two children, both younger than 10 years old.

"Very happy family, very nice people,” said neighbor Thorne Hunter, who woke up to the scene in shock.
"She was very nice. She had two little dogs and kids. She seemed like a very nice lady.”

The woman has not been formally identified.

Investigators call this a suspicious death because they don't know how she died.

Police say they did arrest the boyfriend at the scene because he has unrelated outstanding traffic warrants. He is with police and is cooperating.

We're told the woman's two children are with family and friends.
