University of Michigan police are investigating after a man allegedly threatened to set a University of Michigan student wearing a hijab on fire.
According to police, it happened between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the 600 block of East William near S. State St.
Police say the man approached the student and demanded she remove her jib or he would set her on fire with a lighter.
The woman removed the hijab and then left the area, police said.
According to police, the suspect was a white man, about 20-30 years old with average height, athletic build, bad body odor and an unkempt appearance. Police say he appeared to be intoxicated and slurring his speech.
