Dearborn police are asking for the public's help to find the man accused of robbing a 13-year-old girl on May 27.
Police say the teen was playing near Michigan and Middlesex that Saturday around 7:30 p.m. when a man walked up to the girl and forcibly stole her phone.
Surveillance video reportedly shows the suspect running away from the scene.
Police describe the suspect as a white or Middle Eastern male about 25 to 40 years old with a thin build. He was seen wearing a red shirt and green baseball cap.
The victim was not injured in the incident.
“This crime is disturbing because the suspect deliberately chose a young child to victimize. Our number one priority is citizen safety. When that becomes jeopardized, we will do everything in our power to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice,” said Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad in a statement.
If anyone has any information, they are asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
An $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
