WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Warren Police confirmed Thursday morning they shot a suspect after they say he tried to run over officers with a car.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Knights Inn in Madison Heights.

They say the man led them to Madison Heights, where the suspect’s girlfriend and two kids were. That’s when Warren police say the man attempted to run over police with his car, and they shot him.

The suspect has been taken to Beaumont hospital in Royal Oak and listed in stable condition. Where the suspect was shot or how many times remains unclear.

7 Action News has been told Warren police are working to get a search warrant so they can look in the room where the man was staying.

The investigation is ongoing.
